GIMP is a GNU Image Manipulation program, which also happens to be free, which also happens to be very budget friendly to the graphic design community^ However, there are a few downsides to this program. A: I have never been able to figure out this program... Course I don't have much patience either. The GIMP is highly complex, being high on the programing community. You can basically do anything with this program, if you can figure it out. The only other downside, B: It's even a bit involved to download. No matter what the case, I'm sure $0 compared to $100 for PSP or $700 for PS is a huge incentive to figure this program out!

Here it is, the all famous Adobe Photoshop. And there it is with its pricetag, too-.-... Yes, although it is soooo expensive, it is worth it. Photoshop is the graphic design editing program of many people. There are so many different features and ways to manipulate it, the options are endless. I believe the trail version is for 30 days, which afterwards you might have to plop down the $700 for it. If you are lucky, maybe you could find someone who already has it...and... take advantage of that situation??^.^.. Anyways, PS is almost needed it today's graphic design community. If you don't have it, get it!

Corel bought Jasc way back when, so people might know this better as the new and improved Paintshop Pro, PSP for short. The newest edition comes with quite a few add-ons, many that your average designer doesn't really need. However, they are nice to have. The link that I have provided gets you a free trail, where after 15 days, it will ask you to buy a license, or uninstall the program. This is a heck of a lot cheaper than Photoshop, so you may want to consider it. Paintshop Pro, as I always refer it as, really was my first editing program. Even though it is not my favorite anymore, I still love it^

This little handy script solved my problem with a lot of my alt tags. If you don't know what alt tags are, those are what you can put on images for it to say something in a small highlighted box when you hover over something. With this script, that same box and all of the words are CSS editable. This way, you can make it appear as big as you want, change the colors and also you can change the position and font to match your layout. It uses basic Java, HTML and CSS. It was super easy to install, however, you must also install the other java browser detection script as said on the referal page. If you do not add this, this script will not work.
