Become A Staff Member

Hikaru Hoshi is currently looking for dedicated people to be staff members on our site. We need people who are willing to help out in the site, as Josh is quite busy already. You will be required to do certain things, but all comes with perks. Read the below information, and then fill out an application at the bottom if you feel confident. Thank you so much!

Co-Ownership

  1. Job: Co-Ownership
  2. Level: A (?)
  3. Prerequisites: Required knowledge of the following: HTML, CSS, FTP, PHP, Photoshop/Paintshop Pro. MYSQL knowledge would also help, but not required. At least 6 months of web design experiance. Lots of time dedicated to HH is required, and to be expected. Must have MSN Messenger or AIM as in you will be in constant contact with Josh.
  4. Job Description: As Co-owner, you will be responsible for the majority of the site and it's development. You will play a major role in decisions for HH, along with help design it's graphics, media, tutorials and layout design. For this reason, a co-owner needs to be well versed in all web design, graphic design, and media. You may also play a part of managing Je-De, the official hosting part of Hikaru Hoshi. Hikaru Hoshi is mostly MYSQL driven, backed by HTML and CSS, so you will need to understand a lot of technical things. For more information, please contact Josh.
  5. Job Rewards: You will be given basically full control over the site. You will also get your own email if wanted, and a dedicated FTP username. You may also have your own blog on the site if desired.

Graphic Designer

  1. Job: Graphic Designer
  2. Level: B (?)
  3. Prerequisites: Required knowledge of the following: HTML, CSS, Photoshop/Paintshop Pro. At least 3 months of graphic design experiance. If you make layouts, you must know how to code them also. All graphic designs need to be in either JPEG or PNG format for high quality. GIF is okay for transparent images of minor importance.
  4. Job Description: You will be designing the graphics that go into the graphics section on Hikaru Hoshi. These include, but are not limited to: web layouts, myspace layouts, wallpapers, PNGs, textures, signs, buttons, banners and blends. You will need to be crediting your sources. The majority of these pages have a staff backend with an easy add form, but you will also be using FTP to upload files. You can be taught if you do not know how.
  5. Job Rewards: You will get your own email if wanted, and a dedicated FTP username. You may also have your own blog on the site if desired. All graphic designers also have the opportunity to do freelance jobs using the Je-De/Hikaru Hoshi ordering system, due to be up by this summer.

Database Mod

  1. Job: Database Moderator/Writer
  2. Level: A (?)
  3. Prerequisites: Required knowledge of the following: HTML, CSS, JAVA, PHP, FTP, MYSQL, CPANEL, PHPMYADMIN. At least one years experiance or equivilant in MYSQL coding and related activities.
  4. Job Description: You will be designing the new sections of Hikaru Hoshi with MYSQL datbases, or whatever you see fit. Josh is also new to this, but with your help, Hikaru Hoshi could be transformed and totally remodeled. You will be doing a lot of coding with MYSQL, so extensive knowledge is required.
  5. Job Rewards: You will get your own email if wanted. You may also have your own blog on the site if desired. If you so desire a small salary, one may be give. Emphasis on the small and may though, depending on your skills. Shared staff FTP login given.

Tutorial Writer

  1. Job: Tutorial Writer
  2. Level: B (?)
  3. Prerequisites: Required knowledge of the subject that you write tutorials upon. Must know how to use HTML, or be willing to learn. No copying of tutorials from other sites, so original work required. Photoshop/Paintshop Pro skills for making thumbnails. Good spelling and grammar skills.
  4. Job Description: Writing tutorials will be the majority of your job. This helps other people learn how to do certain things. These can be on just about any subject that somehow tie into one of the major themes of the site. You will be required to do a tutorial once every two weeks, unless you have talked to Josh or a co-owner. You will also need to make multiple thumbnails as you go through your tutorial in order to help the reader. Above all, you will have to spell most things correctly and have good grammar. Even though Josh cannot spell much at all........>.<
  5. Job Rewards: You will get your own email if wanted. You may also have your own blog on the site if desired. All tutorial writers may also submit poems, short stories, and the like through the literature menu. A shared FTP staff login will be given for uploads going to tutorials.

Media Mod

  1. Job: Media Moderator/Uploader
  2. Level: C (?)
  3. Prerequisites: Required knowledge of all media you upload. Basic MYSQL knowledge or willing to learn. Must have FTP program and knowledge.
  4. Job Description: You will be in charge of all the media on Hikaru Hoshi. This includes, but is not limited to: MP3 downloads, video downloads, music playlists, band member information, video clips, music videos. You will be mainly filling in info forms and uploading the media to the HH media server. You will be required to do at least one thing every two weeks. It would be great if you could currently focus on videos since we have a limited quantity. Empahsis is placed upon Jrock/Jpop, but any genre is okay.
  5. Job Rewards: You will get your own email if wanted, and a dedicated FTP username. You may also have your own blog on the site if desired. All media mods also have free reign on the music playlist for Hikaru Hoshi.
